Dopo il successo dell’Indoor di Varsavia arriva una brutta notizia per il PWA. Era già nell’aria da tempo e anche se il PWA lo aveva inizialmente spostato da inizio a fine stagione, noi eravamo abbastanza convinti che l’evento Freestyle a Margarita purtroppo non si sarebbe svolto. La nostra “fonte interna” già da mesi ci aveva detto dell’impossibilità di svolgere la gara e lo avevamo comunicato su queste frequenze scrivendo della cancellazione dell’evento e non della sua posticipazione. Ad ogni modo è di ieri sera la conferma ufficiale.
Allo stesso modo salta anche la tappa in Cile, ancora una volta come l’anno scorso, gli sforzi di Robby Swift non sono stati sufficienti. Ovviamente la colpa è solamente della instabile situazione cilena su cui non si può fare affidamento soprattutto sul lato delle garanzie economiche. Per fortuna quest’anno la notizia dell’annullamento è stata comunicata prima, e non come nel 2013 dove si è saputo della cancellazione dell’ultima tappa Wave in Cile solamente durante la gara a Maui… stravolgendo così le classifiche e regalando una bella “vacanza” a tutti quei rider che avevano già preso il biglietto aereo!
PWA:
As we are approaching the latter half of the 2014 season we have already had a very successful year. The Poland Indoor was completed at the weekend to crowds of nearly 20,000 in the stadium on Saturday night alone and was an incredible experience for anyone who took part.
Despite these successes, we have also faced some difficulties this year, particularly with the Margarita event. Despite being confirmed by deposit and contract, the deteriorating political situation in Venezuela made it impossible for the event to go ahead on the intended dates. We had hoped to run the event in December instead, but circumstances have not improved and, if anything, are now worse with only very limited flight options to and from Venezuela being available. It has therefore been decided to postpone the event until a suitable time in 2015. This of course will depend on the realities of the situation in Venezuela.
In addition to Margarita, it has also been decided to cancel the proposed Chile wave event for 2014. A lot of work has gone into securing the event this year, but in the end it was felt by our partners in the region that the situation was not sufficiently stable for us to guarantee event early enough to make it viable. We will continue to work towards having the event in 2015.
Elsewhere, we expect to release the entry forms for La Torche soon and we hope to announce final details of the Maui event in the near future, so there is still a lot to look forward to on the 2014 PWA World Tour.
