Zara Davis is the ISWC Women’s European Speed Champion for a record 3rd time.
After a hard fought week In Fueteventura Spain. Zara Davis takes seven of the nine rounds at the ISWC European Speed sailing Championships. Her nearest rival and old aversely from previous record attempts Lena Erdil was pushing Zara hard and so was newcomer Anna Shindler. But Zara’s speed sailing experience and 6 foot height gave her the advantage to take the European crown for a record 3rd time.
The mens round was dominated by the event organiser Bjorn Dunkerbeck who lead from the start and won all of the nine rounds. Bjorn was also there with his father and 10 year old son both competing, showing that speed sailing is a sport for all. Second and third place was a battle between Anders Bringdal and Jurjen Van der Noord with 2nd and 3rd place swapping around until finally Jurjen came out on top and Anders in second.
Zara said: “ It is fantastic to have won again and with Lena and Anna hear to push me it made for a great competition”.
