Allenamento invernale a Tenerife

Windsurf training Tenerife
The slalom world elite is united in Tenerife to train for the upcoming racings season. As in the past few years, the TWS center is organizing the best winter training to prepare us to the next season.
I have the honor to train with big slalom champions as Matteo Iachino, Pierre Mortefon, Jordy Vonk, Malte Reuscher, Marco Lang, Vincent Langer, Maciek Rutkowski and many others…
Our routine here in El Medano is pretty intense: If the wind condition allows to do so, we train two days in a row and we have one day-off to rest and to do out of water exercises. But, if we don’t go in the water for more than two days we can then even train for three days one after the other; we all want to take the most out of the Tenerife wind!
Usually, we meet for the skipper meeting at 10.00 in front of the TWS center and we begin at 11. To take part to the training session we must be on time at the skipper meeting. Rules are strict and it makes it more professional.
After every 5 heats, we have a 40-min break to rest a while. Since the last year, the number of heats per day have been decreased from 20 to 15 but with one more jibe per heat and the last mark has now the function of the arrival line. That enhances the competition feeling and so we all have a clear idea of who’s the fastest of every heat. I like this new format more than the previous one because I feel to be in a real race, but this is very subjective.
It is the first time that I have the great opportunity to train systematically together with such high level windsurf champions and that is very exciting. The first 20 days have been the most tuff, and it took a while before I acquired the strength to attend all the heats as the other were doing. Now, is getting funnier and funnier and I feel to keep improving day by day! Doing so, I also can focus on all the different part of the race.
I’m enjoying to be part of the North-Fanatic Team! We, (the North Fanatic riders who are attending the train here as Marco Lang, Vincent Langer and Jordy Vonk) go well along together and I can learn from them step by step, trying to get close to their level. Moreover, it’s a blast to train together with the current World Champion, Matteo Iachino, who seems ready to start the new season at best!
That’s all for now from El Medano.
