Butterflies Conquering Maui’s North Shore
Maui, HI (April, 26th, 2014) The annual aloha, non-competitive, inspiring and empowering event for women created by professional water woman and Maui local, Tatiana Howard, set another record with just over 400 female participants. Each participant equaled one native tree planted on Maui. The paddle started from Baldwin Beach Park and ended 3-miles down the coastline at Kanaha Beach Park. Women were greeted with leis by SUP World Champion Kai Lenny and team. The women were put to a challenge during their paddle passing shore break and choppy wavey waters due to the high winds of over 25 knots that day.
“They all achieved the challenging paddle and I hope they can take what they learned on the water into their everyday lives through other challenges that may come up.,” says Tatiana Howard, Founder and Creator of The Butterfly Effect World Tour. “The event helps women get together in a fun supportive way to accomplish goals and to give back to the local community.”
The Butterfly Effect was created on Maui and now has turned into an international series of water sport events designed to empower women. Since its first
small windsurfing event in 2007, The Butterfly Effect has evolved into a worldwide movement. Over the years she has created 26 non-competitive events and workshops, in 12 countries, with thousands of participants. Tatiana and her team continue to do events and camps all over the world every year.
The Butterfly Effect Maui is always the biggest and most special because this is where it all started by a seed idea from Tatiana. Now it really is like the scientific meaning of the butterfly effect, such as a small change developing into a phenomenon.
About The Butterfly Effect
The Butterfly Effect strives to empower women through water sports. Each event is designed to give every Butterfly more confidence, joy, and skill in her board riding, as well as her navigation through everyday life. We do this by making environmental awareness, education, and community give-back activities a big part of each Butterfly Effect event.
