November 16, 2015, Cloudbreak, Fiji – In the last stretch of the Technical Race Finals, Denmark’s Casper Steinfath surfed though the pack on his Naish Maliko 12’6” to win the ISA SUP World Championship Gold Medal for an unprecedented third time held at legendary Cloudbreak, Fiji. Finishing just behind Steinfath, was Naish teammate Kai Lenny, taking second place.

The ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship is a unique event that occurs annually, at varying host countries, with national teams from all over the world competing in various paddling events including race and surf. This was a big win for Steinfath, who also serves as the ISA Vice President and Chairman of the ISA Athletes Commission, after just missing the podium at the 2015 championships in Mexico. However, his win did not come easy. Steinfath was able to pull the come from behind win by catching an outside wave on the last leg of the race and make the move from fifth to first and sprint his way to the finish line.

“I’m super stoked to win the Gold Medal in the Technical Race today!!” responded Steinfath to Naish. “It was an unreal race at Cloudbreak and I am so happy how everything came together in the final. I was leading most of the race and then fell back a few spots at the end. I ended up catching a wave down the reef on the last stretch and passed 4 guys in front of me and crossed the line first. It felt unbelievable to win my 3rd ISA World Title, and it was awesome to have Kai come in right behind in 2nd. Those Naish Malikos are on fire!”

It has been an incredible year for the Naish Maliko race board, taking paddlers to podiums all over the world from local races to the Stand Up World Series. In an effort to provide even more support to stand up paddlers, Naish is excited to present the SUP Domestic Racer Program. For a limited time, Naish is offering paddlers the opportunity to purchase the same Naish board models that Steinfath and Lenny compete with, at team pricing.

Next year, the ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship will be held in Steinfaths home country of Denmark. While the water will be significantly colder, Denmark serves as a great hosting country with its accessibility for European teams and great venues for both race and surf competition. We cannot wait to see Naish represented by all the various nations at next years’ event!
