KIA Cold Hawaii PWA Windsurf World Cup 2015: The expectations
The KIA Cold Hawaii PWA Windsurf Worldcup presented by Thisted Forsikring and City Lift A/S is on. Today Cold Hawaii welcomed the 32 world’s best windsurfers with warm winds but no waves. But the forecast looks promising for the rest of the week. Find out about the expectations of the world’s top three riders and of last year’s winner, reigning World Champ, Thomas Traversa.

Victor Fernandez (ESP), current Nr. 1 of the PWA world ranking:
„Again it seems we’ll have to deal with changing weather conditions which is typical for Klitmøller. But I know this place very well and am prepared: I brought a lot of stuff to be prepared for every kind of conditions. Beside this I will try to stay fully focussed and will try to not think too much about my overall standing.”

Philip Köster (GER), current Nr. 2 of the PWA world ranking:
„It’s nice to be back in Klitmøller, a place where I was crowned world champion twice. The weather forecast looks like we could get some great waveriding this week. And, as a positive surprise, it is actually warmer than I expected. Perfect as I just came back from a short training trip in Australia.”

Jaeger Stone (AUS), current Nr. 3 of the PWA world ranking:
“Coming from Australia this is a exotic place for me with cold and really fast changing weather. I’ll just try to sail my best. I want to show what I can do on the North Sea. Hopefully my performance will be good enough to stay in the top three.”

Thomas Traversa, reigning World Champion and winner of last year’s event:
“Even though I won here two times already nothing is for sure. Klitmøller is a difficult place with cold and changing conditions. And all the other guys like Victor [Fernandez], Philip [Köster] and Jaeger [Stone] are really hot to win this event, too. So it will be hard for me to be on top again.”

About the Cold Hawaii PWA Windsurf World Cup:
Cold Hawaii has produced some absolutely epic moments over the past five years and on the current forecast it looks like it will produce world class conditions again for the sixth consecutive year with strong wind and waves being predicted. The event runs from the 14. to the 20. of September.
Klitmøller itself is located in Northern Jutland, just ten kilometres southwest of Hanstholm. What once was a quaint little fishing village is now being heralded as one of the wave sailing gems of Europe. Its reputation is such that, Klitmøller, is now more commonly known as Cold Hawaii, due to the fact that it bares the brunt of the biggest storms in Northern Europe. Although this makes life incredibly tough for the fisherman, it is also the prime reason for Cold Hawaii’s growing reputation within the windsurfing, and surfing, world. From perfect stunt ramps to powerful, gnarly, waves Cold Hawaii provides the perfect platform for the world’s most radical sailors to showcase exactly what they are capable of.
