Serata di finali allo Stadio Nazionale di Varsavia per l’Indoor PWA. E ancora una volta grande serata di spettacolo.
Questa volta a partire è il Freestyle con Nicolas Akgazciyan (99 International / Point-7 / AL360 / Maui Ultra Fins) che sbaraglia la concorrenza e rende molto felice il suo boss Andrea Cucchi che lo stava guardando in diretta con il Live Streaming durante il iParassiti party a Torbole.
Per le donne invece è Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard) a non dare alcuna possibilità alle altre avversarie chiudendo manovre perfette come Spock e Puneta.

Si continua poi con lo Slalom dove il nostro super Matteo Iachino (Fanatic, North Sails, LSD Fins) si aggiudica il terzo posto. Ma è il podio che ci stupisce… dove troviamo due rider che non sono propriamente “addicted” alla disciplina. In seconda posizione Nicolas Akgazciyan (99 International / Point-7 / AL360 / Maui Ultra Fins) che corona una serata perfetta. In prima posizione un inaspettato Ben Proffitt (Simmer) che non è solamente il mitico speaker del Live Streaming del PWA, in molti hanno rimpianto la sua mancanza ai microfoni per questo evento, ma è anche un ottimo waver e a quanto pare sembra trovarsi perfettamente a suo agio nelle difficili strambate nella piscina di Varsavia con il vento artificiale. Bravo Ben! 4° classificato Andrea Rosati (RRD, Neil Pryde)!
Matteo Iachino commenta: ” Sono molto felice del risultato. Come ho già detto i rider che erano con me nelle batterie avevano tavole custom e pesavano molto meno di me e avevano già fatto degli indoro. È stato divertentissimo e veramente una bella manifestazione!”.

La serata termina con la disciplina più spettacolare: i salti. Nonostante le molte tavole rotte e le varie cadute, i rider sembrano aver preso meglio le misure con la rampa ed eseguono salti mozzafiato. Thomas Traversa (Tabou, GA Sails) vince grazie ai suoi stilosi Table Top e Push Loop Tweaked. Ricardo Campello (Patrik, Point-7) secondo classificato. La nostra collaboratrice Amanda Beneen (Tabou, GA Sails) vince invece nella classifica femminile e durante la premiazione stenta a mantenere l’emozione. Brava Amanda!!!

Day 2: Poland’s National Stadium explodes into life as the winners’ are crowned to cap a brilliant evening
With the National Stadium waiting to erupt, the scene was set perfectly for the finale of the first indoor event in eight years. From the word go, the atmosphere within the stadium was amazing, but as the evening progressed the crowd became more encapsulated, and vocal, by the minute as the world’s best left nothing on the line to produce an exceptional night for windsurfing on the whole.
Jump
Thomas Traversa (Tabou / GA Sails) showed exactly why he is not just one of the best storm chasers in the world, but also one of the finest jumper. The Frenchman opened with an incredible tweaked tabletop, before backing it up with a bolt upright forward, to defeat the likes of Ricardo Campello (Patrik / Point-7 / MFC,) who eventually had to settle for second place. Meanwhile, Amanda Beenen (Tabou / GA Sails) claimed the victory in the women’s as she threw caution to the wind to throw herself into a big forward loop. The women’s competition was also verging on the line of life or death, but all of the female sailors must be rewarded for the bravery that they showed to face the ramp again!
