Red Bull Storm Chase Mission 3 Final heads to Cornwall

Cornwall, England, February 7th 2014 – Incoming storm for England. After a tempestuous winter, the Atlantic Ocean is brewing perhaps the most intense weather system of the season for the most-challenging windsurfing contest of all time. The four remaining finalists Marcilio Browne (BRA), Dany Bruch (GER), Leon Jamaer (GER) and Thomas Traversa (FRA) have journeyed to Great Britain to compete in huge surf conditions and wild wind in the UK’s West Country region. With a jagged, exposed coastline, Cornwall could see competition commence as soon as first light on Saturday February 8th.

The Region: Cornwall, England
Although seven nominated destinations were within the Red Bull Storm Chase crosshairs, in the spirit of a truly global storm chase to find the toughest possible conditions, the organisers have remained agile and subsequently picked Cornwall as a fitting location for the climax to the challenge.

As the southermmost point of mainland Great Britain and the westernmost point in England, the county of Cornwall is exposed to the wild Atlantic weather. With Gaelic roots, ‚Kernow’ features the Celtic sea on its northern coastline and ‚The Cornish Riviera’ facing south. Jutting out into the ocean, Cornwall is reasonably temperate and the jagged shoreline offers a high amount of possible locations to run competition.

Average Temperatures: Air (Nov-March): 9°C, Water (Nov-March): 6-10°C

The Athletes:
Four windsurfers will compete in Mission #3 – the third and final stop in the series: Current wavesailing World Champion Marcilio Browne (BRA), big-wave specialist Daniel Bruch (GER), up-and-coming pro Leon Jamaer (GER) – an injury replacment who seriously impressed the judges during Mission # 2 in Tasmania – and runaway winner of Mission # 2, Thomas Traversa (FRA).

By the end of the weekend just one of these élite-level windsurfers will be crowned as the Red Bull Storm Chase Champion.

Live-Reporting:
Real-time mission reports from the sailors and crew members, latest information and stunning images from the Mission will be posted at www.redbullstormchase.com
